Purton Ship Graveyard

We spent a lovely day on location photographing the Purton Ship Graveyard.  The banks of the River Severn have historically suffered from tidal erosion.  Between 1909 and 1965 redundant and unwanted vessels were beached on the foreshore and allowed to fill with silt.  These formed a barrier and helped prevent the river eroding into the canal embankment.  Thanks to Trevor for taking the photo of us on location.  All this was thirsty work which of course meant a visit to a local village pub!
