After meeting Emma & Chris last May, we knew this would be a relaxed, fun wedding. We were really looking forward to returning to Cripps Stone Barn after last year’s helicopter flight, (check out Lyndsey & Kevin’s blog post for the full story). On arrival at Emma’s parents’ house, Alan (Emma’s father) was organising everybody and even ticked a box on his timeline to show we were there – what a great project manager! I often recommend plenty of time for bridal preparations but this doesn’t always happen. Thankfully, Emma had given herself plenty of time and with Jodi Croft doing the makeup, the atmosphere was very relaxed.
Stone Barn is a large, beautifully converted barn in the Cotswolds and was decked with bunting, ivy, flowers & lots of candles. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed canapés and drinks on the terrace whilst we whisked Emma & Chris up a beautiful, country lane for some photos. I had suggested to Emma that she might like to wear wellies but no, she was going to walk along the track in heels (fair dues!) I’d still be stuck at the bottom of the hill if I was wearing heels (it’s Gillian talking here, not Chris!). We never like to keep couples away from their family & friends for very long and soon we were back at the barn: me ‘papping’ guests from a distance & Chris photographing the special things that personalise a wedding reception. Chris made sure to photograph the flower buckets by ‘Oops a Daisy’, the bunting which was made by the girls on their hen weekend and personalised with their initials and the china plates which were used for the table names, a nod to Stoke City FC (‘The Potters’), whom the groom supports. During the wedding breakfast, the pageboys, Harry & Ben announced that a guest from each table would be required to act as a carver. That ‘chef’ then donned a pinny and chef’s hat, much to the delight of the other guests. BBQ roast leg of lamb was served & carved and it was yummy, thanks Emma & Chris!! We also took some atmospheric sunset shots and the flowergirl, Katie just loved helping us; maybe a budding young photographer although quite a few years to go yet!
The tribute band “All you need is The Beatles” got the party going and everyone danced the night away. The barn looked spectacular and the fire pits outside added that little extra warmth to a very special day. I hope everyone likes our favourite photos!

If I remember the conversation correctly, Katie was saying to her Mum “because you deserve it Mummy” – how sweet!
I have no idea what was going on here but it’s a great photo!
With our photography we like to think out the box, which is where the rings were!
Has someone left their speech in the back of the taxi? “quick, give me the phone and the taxi company’s number”.
I wonder if it has just dawned on Emma that she is getting married today!
Chris’ first glimpse of his bride, a really special moment in a ceremony.
Not forgetting a very proud Dad.
Was it a good photo?Competition’s a bit stiff today!
A quite moment together before greeting their family & friends.
Arrrh, there is nothing quite like a hug from your Mum.
Watch those puddles Emma!
Chris having a lie down …. whilst I was taking a totally different photo below
These children were great fun, say cheese!
Stone Barn was looking amazing, the flowers looked beautiful and Emma was kind enough to give us a ‘flower bucket’ before we left for home much later in the evening.
My present is much more interesting that your boring speeches…..
But they’re funny!
Both bridesmaids, Jen & Lydia were great fun but I love Lydia’s expression in this photo, she is having a ball.
How cool do I look in this?
Chris is photographing the speeches and hiding behind the pillar, can you see him?
Is this going to get anymore embarrassing?
I knew all that carving practice on Sunday lunches was going to pay off some day.
Harry showing Emma how to do it!
I love a good bonfire and talking about bonfires…. it’ll be the 5th November soon.
